You don’t have to be head over heels in love with math to be a mathematician; sometimes, it’s just about appreciating how challenging math can be. On the rainy 18th of September in 2023, right in Lonavla, something exciting was brewing – the Auxilium Math Wizards Championship, where budding problem-solvers from Auxilium would be put to the test.
The competition brought together the brightest minds in the school, each group having catchy titles: The Math Pi-rates, The Algebraic Avengers, The Numerical Ninjas, and the Math Magicians. These groups were further divided into junior and senior categories, setting the stage for an intense showdown.
Now, let’s talk about the competition itself. Picture this: six mind-bending, nerve-racking rounds that had everyone, including the audience, on the edge of their seats. What’s interesting is that everyday games like Tic-Tac-Toe and Mazes were transformed into math challenges, and even ordinary things around us were presented in a mathematical light. This pushed the participants to think creatively and outside the box, and they certainly rose to the occasion.
The audience didn’t just sit there twiddling their thumbs either. Surprise questions were thrown at them, and they eagerly participated, keeping the excitement levels high throughout the event.
Surprisingly, even those who didn’t consider themselves math whizzes found a way to navigate through the logical rounds with just a dash of common sense.
In the end, it was the Math Pi-rates who emerged as champions in both the junior and senior categories. The Math Magicians secured the second spot among the juniors, while the Numerical Ninjas claimed the runner-up position among the seniors.
The winners and runner-ups received their well-deserved certificates from Sr. Sheela Furtado, the Headmistress. She praised the students for their hard work and dedication in preparing for the competition and encouraged the audience to strive for a chance to stand on that stage next time.
